ATTENTION ALL RESIDENTS OF BHA – THIS IS AN IMPORTANT LETTER FROM BHA EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, ROLAND TRAUDT

TO ALL TENENTS,

PLEASE READ THE LETTER BELOW AS IT CONTAINS VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING THE NEW TOWING / BOOTING PROGRAM WHICH WILL TAKE EFFECT ON 5/1/2023.

April 19, 2023

RE: Towing and Booting of vehicles to begin 5/1/23

Dear Tenants:

The BHA has entered into a contract with Bobby’s Towing and Recovery LLC for parking lot enforcement at both Forrestal Heights and Hamilton Fish Plaza.

Any vehicle parked in violation of the attached Parking Policy is subject to towing or booting.  The fee to release the vehicle is $125.00 and must be paid directly to Bobby’s Towing and Recovery LLC.

Please see the attached Parking Policy.  We strongly recommend that you read it and call the office if you have any questions.  Once a vehicle is towed or booted it becomes a matter between the vehicle owner and the towing company.  The BHA does not and will not have any role in the transaction for the release of the vehicle.

Please be sure to inform your family members and all of your guests of the parking rules.  Not knowing the rules will not be considered an excuse.  Breaking a rule to run into your apartment for 5 minutes will not be considered an excuse.  There are no excuses.

Again, the BHA cannot and will not have any part in getting a vehicle released from the towing company if it was towed or booted for being in violation of the attached parking policy.  NO EXCEPTIONS.

Sincerely,

Roland Traudt

Executive Director

STARTING MONDAY MAY 1ST, 2023

Parking Policy Enforcement

Any vehicle found in violation of any of the parking rules and regulations listed below will be subject to towing and/or booting.

Any harassment or threatening of Beacon Housing Authority personnel or tow operators by residents, household members or guests, will result in lease violation and/or eviction.

Management assumes no responsibility for loss or damage to any vehicle parked in the allotted spaces.

Once a vehicle has been towed or booted, it becomes a matter between the owner and the towing company.  The Beacon Housing Authority or its Executive Director does not have any role in the transaction for the release of the vehicle.

PARKING RULES AND REGULATIONS

Parking in the Beacon Housing Authority Parking Lots is designated for BHA tenants and staff.

The Reserved Parking spots are exclusive and limited.  They are issued to individuals with “special circumstances” as a reasonable accommodation.

Parking Permits

Parking permits are required to park on Beacon Housing Authority property.  To be eligible for a parking permit, the following shall apply:

  1. The vehicle must have a current registration in a household member’s name, and the registration must be displayed in the proper place in the window.

2.  The vehicle must be insured and in the tenant’s name with a BHA address.

3.  There must be a valid license plate attached to the vehicle and a current inspection sticker.

4.  A Parking Permit Request Form must be completed, signed, and submitted to the office for

      approval.

Additional parking permits will be considered only if there is another valid household member who meets all of the above provisions.

Parking permit stickers must be displayed at all times in the lower left hand corner of the back windshield (picture attached).  If the permit is not there (even if you have one issued to you) the vehicle is subject to towing and booting.

Special parking permits and guest parking permits (hang tags) must be displayed at all times while on property by being hung from the rear view mirror.  If the permit is not there (even if you have one issued to you) the vehicle is subject to towing and booting.

Parking permits are color coded and have assigned lot numbers.

Parking Lots

Color coded parking permits are valid for the following lots:

                                                              Parking Lot              Parking Permit Color

Forrestal Heights High Rise                    Lot 1 or Lot 2                     Yellow

Forrestal Heights Apt. #61 – L106           Lot 3                                  Blue

Forrestal Heights Apt. #  3 – 60              Lot 4 or Lot 5                     Red

Hamilton Fish Plaza                                                                         Purple

Visitor Parking

The Visitor Parking spots are to be used by guests and Home Health Aides/Nurses of BHA residents.  The visitor parking spots at Forrestal Heights Lots 2, 3, 4, and 5 and at Hamilton Fish Plaza have a maximum limit of 4 hours parking.

Guests remaining longer than 4 hours at Forrestal Heights must be issued a guest parking permit from the housing authority office and park in assigned lot.

There is no long term parking available at Hamilton Fish Plaza.

Parking Rules

You must obey all fire, handicapped, reserved and other posted parking regulations.

You must park in your assigned lot ONLY.

Only vehicles with handicapped stickers legally issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles or Police Department may legally park in spaces designated for that purpose.

No one should park in a “No Parking” area.

No vehicles are permitted on any curb, island, sidewalk or grass area.

No vehicle should block access to any garbage dumpster.

Repairs, greasing or similar work on automobiles is prohibited on BHA property.  A car placed on jacks for repairs could cost the life of a curious child.  Any car jacked up vehicle will be towed away at the owner’s expense.

No vehicle (or anything with a motor) may be driven on any curb, island, sidewalk or grass area.  Exception will be granted to medically necessary personal mobility equipment.

WE REPEAT!

Any vehicle found in violation of any of the parking rules and regulations will be subject to towing and/or booting.

NO EXCUSES NO EXCEPTIONS

TODAY’S DAILY INSPIRATIONAL QUOTE ~ Ursula K. Le Guin

As one of the greatest science fiction and fantasy authors of all time, Ursula K. Le Guin certainly held a hand out in the dark. Her work, which includes more than 20 novels and over 100 short stories, pushed the boundaries of gender, sexuality, and race in speculative fiction. She also explored alternative social and political systems, whether in far-future space colonies or the fantastical world of “Earthsea.” In a writing career that spanned almost 60 years and numerous awards, Le Guin touched upon everything from feminism to anthropology to moral development. And no matter how complex the themes, there was always a celebration of life in her work. As she once said, “We don’t live in order to die, we live in order to live.”

Attention Residents of Beacon Housing Authority

This is just a gently reminder for Tenants who live in the High Rise Units.

Please do not use the intercom in your building to randomly buzz unknown visitors. If you do not know the person on the intercom and if they do not identify themselves please do not let them into the building.

There was a recent incident earlier this month in which people posing as religious solicitors were discovered in the Forrestal Height High Rise. This is not acceptable as it posed a risk to all who reside in the building. BHA is asking residents to be proactive when it comes to building security. If you do not know the person on the intercom do not buzz them into the building.

Thank you

BHA Management.

TODAY’S DAILY INSPRIATIONAL QUOTE ~ Isabel Allende

Chilean author Isabel Allende is one of the most widely read Spanish-language authors in the world, with a style that combines magical realism, personal experience, and historic events. She began her writing career translating Barbara Cartland novels into Spanish, while surreptitiously adding a few changes to make the female characters more intelligent (a practice that later got her fired). She was a TV personality for a while, wrote for a feminist magazine, worked for the United Nations, and fled Chile to Venezuela following dictator Augusto Pinochet’s coup. She later moved to California, where she still lives and writes today. To say that she was well received in the U.S. would be an understatement: In 2014, Allende was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by Barack Obama.
