The City of Beacon Housing Authority will once again collaborate with Community Partners to prepare and deliver Holiday Meals to the residents of BHA.

If you are a resident of BHA and would like to receive a Holiday Meal please contact the BHA Management Office at 845-831-1289 to register for this event. The deadline to sign up for the Holiday Event is Monday December 13th, 2021. Don’t delay sign up today!

This Holiday Event is being sponsored by The Beacon Elks Club, The United Way of Orange County, The Scouts, and The Friends and Staff of BHA. Holiday Dinners will be delivered on Saturday December 18th, 2021 starting at approximately 4pm. We ask that all residents who have signed up for this event be home to receive their Holiday Meal. Please note, you may request as many meals as needed for your household.

BHA understands that the Holidays can be stressful and lonely. If you are feeling overwhelmed and stressed please do not hesitate to reach out to our office for assistance in locating the proper resources. Remember we are all in this together, so be kind to each other and have a Happy Holiday.

Helen Keller knew more than her fair share of hardships. After a series of illnesses, she lost her sight and hearing before her second birthday. Instead of letting her struggles define her, Keller became famous for her unique ability to overcome. Her first teacher, Anne Sullivan, introduced her to language and taught Keller how to read and write. Keller later qualified for Radcliffe College of Harvard University, where she became the first deaf and blind person to receive a college diploma in the United States. As she often said, she found happiness in life by facing adversity with remarkable hope and optimism.

The City of Beacon Housing Authority will be closed for the Thanksgiving Holiday effective Wednesday November 24th at 12:30pm and will reopen on Monday November 29th at 8:00am.

The ancient Greek playwright Euripides wrote these words in his tragedy “Iphigenia in Tauris,” a story of a woman thrust into forced servitude to the goddess Artemis at the Temple of Artemis while her family back home was in turmoil. Though Iphigenia’s misfortunes may not resemble our modern plights, Euripides reminds us that even our worst circumstances can hold the possibility of good: Often, it is when we reach rock bottom that we are able to start changing our lives.

The Knights of Columbus will be providing a Holiday Meal on Thanksgiving Day to residents of BHA.

If you have not done so you must contact the office today to sign up for the Knights of Columbus Holiday Meal. Today is the deadline to get your name on the signup sheet. Please call the office today at 845-831-1289

Meals will be prepared on Thanksgiving Morning and delivered to BHA residents by the Knights of Columbus. Deliveries will start in the afternoon, you must be home to receive your meal. If you are not home your meal will be forfeited to another family. Please feel free to take advantage of this generous opportunity and get a delicious holiday meal delivered to your door.
