Dear Friends, In this newsletter, you will learn about two exciting new collaborations. One with Melanin Unchained in Newburgh and one with Hudson River Housing’s VetZero program. This February, we are celebrating Black Futures Month with the Movement for Black Lives. We envision a future filled with #blackexcellence #blackjoy and the liberation of all people. Below, you will also find several great recipes our friends at Poughkeepsie Farm Project have simplified for engaging the whole family in preparing healthy food together. As usual, I would like to encourage you to get involved in whichever ways might work for you. Scroll down to learn more about volunteering, hosting a food drive or community fundraiser, and/or donating to help get more healthy food out to our neighbors. In community, Jamie Levato, Executive Director |
New Collaborations |
Newburgh Community Fridge We are excited to be collaborating with Melanin Unchained and the Newburgh Armory on the first Community Fridge in Newburgh. Melanin Unchained has secured funding from Awesome Newburgh to acquire the fridge and to build a shelter around it. Fareground will be helping to supply food for the fridge. Stay tuned for more developments! |
VetZero Heroes Making Heroes We are thrilled to be partnering with Hudson River Housing’s VetZero Heroes Making Heroes program. VetZero’s mission is “to reach ZERO veteran suicides and ZERO veteran homelessness in our community.” The Heroes Making Heroes program provides employment, training and mentorship to local veterans who have experienced homelessness. Starting at the end of December, Fareground has been offering the fresh healthy hero-style sandwiches prepared by veterans in the program at our Free Marketplaces. |

Get Involved with Fareground |
Volunteer with Fareground! Help us provide nourishing food for our community. We are especially seeking volunteers who can make a regular commitment (whether weekly or monthly). Volunteers assist with picking up food donations, unloading and sorting food deliveries, and distributing food at Free Marketplaces. Please join us! First, fill out our volunteer registration form; then, sign up for volunteer shifts. |
Host a Food Drive or Community Fundraiser! Help us keep the pantry shelves full by hosting a food drive at your school, business, or organization. If you own a business, consider collaborating with us on a community fundraiser. Just reply to this message if you would like to set something up. |
Donate! Your donations help fund food purchases for our market places, Tiny Food Pantries & Community Fridge, and expand Fareground’s capacity to support the community. You can venmo us at @Fareground-Inc or click the button below to make a direct donation. |
